Stranraer curler Frazer Hare and his new five-man team of Colin Howden, Craig Waddell, Don Frame and Colin Dick took the notable scalp of the crack rink who will represent Great Britain at the 2014 Winter Olympics when winning the prestigious Stirling Invitational at the Peak Ice Rink last weekend.

The Hare team beat Team GB, skipped by David Murdoch, universally regarded as one the best teams in the world just now 6-5 at the semi-final stage before going onto defeat Bruce Mouat’s rink from Murrayfield 5-2 in the final. Sixteen of the top mens teams in the country were at Stirling for the Scottish Curling Tour event looking to take home the £1200 top prize. Teams from Wales and Estonia, including Martin Lill, the current tour leader, were in the field along with the top teams in Scotland.
