First salmon of the season on River Cree

A guest staying at Mochrum Park who has caught the first salmon of the season on the River Cree.

Roger Thomas from North Wales, who is staying in Smithy Cottage at Mochrum Park, is an experienced and regular angler to the area. He caught a beautiful spring salmon from Castle Bank pool on the Machermore Stretch of the River Cree on a ‘Black Francis’ Fly.

The fish weighed about 12lb. A scale sample was taken for the Galloway Fisheries Trust and the Salmon was safely returned.
