The men of Wigtown and Bladnoch won the Dalrymple Cup last Saturday at their home golf club.

The Dalrymple Cup is held annually and although rain affected the quarter-finals on Wednesday, the ties were won by Dunskey who beat Newton Stewart 2.5 to 1.5 and by County who beat Stranraer 3 to 1.

The semi-finals on Saturday went the way of County (who beat Dunskey on countback) and Wigtown (who beat St Medans 4-0).

After a course inspection it was decided that the final could be played that evening as the course had been subjected to several very heavy downpours.

A tight final resulted in a victorious Wigtown team who won 2.5 of the four points in offer to win the trophy for the first time since 1999.
