Ten rinks competed in the draw, with one call off.

Making it through to the quarter finals were rinks from Kirkmabreck, Glasserton, Leswalt, Castle Kennedy, Logan and Stoneykirk. The semi finals saw Stoneykirk versus one Leswalt rink and Castle Kennedy versus another Leswalt team. The eventual winners were the rinks skipped by Ian Kirkpatrick, Stoneykirk, and Philip Wilson, Castle Kennedy, who progressed to the final to battle it out for the title.

The two defeated Leswalt rinks were left to play off for third and fourth spot and custody of the John Smith Salver.

The spectators were then treated to a nail biting high road final. Some of the remarks in the crowd being “world class”, “terrific” and “superb curling”. At the half way stage Castle Kennedy led by three shots to two, whilst on another sheet the all-Leswalt scoreline was the same. By the bell the main final was tied and an extra end had to be played. The Kirkpartrick rink managed to gain the one vital shot making the score 6-5, to much applause.
