STRANRAER curler Vicki Adams and her teammate Claire Hamilton were invited to join the British Olympic Squad at their pre-London 2012 Olympic training camp at Loughborough this week.

Vicki, a member of the team that won gold at the European Championships in Moscow last December, is working hard towards her burning ambition of being chosen to represent Great Britain at the next Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, in 2014.

Vicki said: “This is part of the ‘GB Ambitions’ programme. It’s just to get some experience of what the Olympics is all about. For example, we went through the kitting out process in Loughborough. It’s just preparing you for what could happen to you if you are selected for the Olympics.

“Also, in two weeks I’m going to Buckingham Palace as the Olympic torch relay is going to be there and then, at the end of July, we are going to watch some of the team sports at the Olympics.

“We will also be going behind the scenes as well.”

The GB curling squad for the 2014 Winter Olympics will be announced next year.
