South League Cup final
Lochar Thistle 1 Wigtown and Bladnoch 5
Although this turned out a comfortable victory for Wigtown and Bladnoch, who last won this competition in 1995 when manager Micky Dougan was playing, the newcomers Lochar Thistle gave a good account of themselves.
Manager Dougan’s two sons scored the first two goals, with Blair striking after 10 minutes to put his side ahead and Adam adding goal number two 12 minutes later with a well taken volley.
Jamie McHarrie rounded the Lochar keeper a minute before the half-time whistle to find goal number three and to put the final beyond Lochar’s reach.
Six minutes after the restart an Ian Millar free kick from 20 yards was slightly deflected past the keeper but the goal ensured victory although the Dumfriesshire side scored what proved to be a consolation goal with 20 minutes left to play through a Scott Neill strike.
With the game three minutes into time added on, Millar scored direct from a corner as Wigtown went nap to claim the silverware.
