The cup finals are coming thick and fast in now in South football with another two scheduled for the next few days.
The Tweedie Cup final is the only match taking place this Saturday when St Cuthbert Wanderers play Stewartry rivals Threave Rovers. On present form, the Kirkcudbright side will start as favourites to take the silverware.
The result should be close, however, and the Castle Douglas outfit will be looking to regain early season form but Saints have a strong squad of experienced players who on their day are not easily beaten.
On Monday night there are three South of Scotland League matches due to take place, with Newton Stewart playing hosts to Threave Rovers at Blairmount in a rescheduled match following last Saturday’s postponement.
The Creesiders have been in good form recently and will be keen to take something from this match, although the Castle Douglas side will also want the three points to keep them as close to the league leaders as possible.
St Cuthbert Wanderers entertain Crichton at St Mary’s Park. Kirkcudbright, and should take the three points with the Hospital Park side team having the best of seasons.
Wigtown and Bladnoch play Dalbeattie Star and will be keen to avenge their defeat at Islecroft last Saturday, which looked like throwing away their outside chance of the title.
On the evening of Wednesday, May 22, the Cree Lodge Cup final takes place with the two Wanderers locking horns for the sliverware. Once again Saints will start as favourites but if the Sanquhar side strike top form like they did in the semi-final against Dalbeattie Star then this contest could take more than the regulation 90 minutes to find a winner.
