Brodie is champion golfer for fourth time

The Wigtownshire Gents 36-hole Championship was won by David Brodie from Wigtown and Bladnoch Golf Club with a score of 68+70=138.

The annual championships were played at Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club on Sunday, June 7.

Following the morning round there was a tie for the lead with home player James Caldwell and Wigtown & Bladnoch’s David Brodie both shooting two under par rounds of 68.

Gary Marshall of Stranraer shot a level par round of 70, closely followed by Ian Johnstone and Stuart Fisher on 71. During the afternoon round the scoring conditions became harder as the wind got stronger. The clubhouse lead was held by Gary Marshall of Stranraer after he posted a second round 73 for a 143 total. This total was quickly matched by James Caldwell (75) and then Ian Johnstone of Wigtownshire County after he returned a fine 72. The championship was finally decided in the last match on the course when David Brodie returned a fantastic level par round of 70 for a 138 total to secure the title by five shots.
