Calgow Equestrian

Tuesday night saw a large number of horses and ponies competing at the Galloway Pageant Show Jumping event at Calgow. On hand to present the prizes were Queen of Galloway Megan Steele, Queen Elect Sarah Lindsay and Pageant Committee Chair Diann Hughes. The Pageant Trophy this year was presented to the winner of the ‘accumulator class’ which proved to be extremely popular with 26 horses and ponies entered. The winner of the trophy for having the most points overall was Mollie Miller Smith on Jolly who not only had the most points but also jumped the most number of fences in the time given. Winner with the most for the horse class was Jessica Hannay on Molly. It was also the Jai Jolly Memorial Trophy competition and it was won, fittingly, by Jai’s sister Caitlin Jolly who was first and second! Coming a close third was cousin Quinn Jolly making it a very Jolly competition!

The nights certainly draw in after Wigtown Show and sure enough with big classes last night the lights were on in the arena before the competition ended.

There are still several league nights to go before the end of the season so the competition is still wide open for anyone to win. Next month will see Calgow’s first open show on September 15 and the annual team show jumping event on September 29. Check out all the events and activities on the Calgow Equestrian Facebook page, the website www.calgowequestrian.co.uk or phone Anne Jolly on 07850 815455 for information.
