Kirkcudbright Gun Club held its annual South West Single Barrel Championships on Sunday, August 10.
Possibly because of the weather, there was a rather disappointing turn out of fifteen guns, but at the end of the shoot the top gun was young Ben Spence of Gelston on a very commendable 47/50. Ben also took part in the shoot-off for the South West Cup for the best score in Event 2 with Alan Gordon of Castle Douglas. Both were clean on 25, but Ben lost to Alan in the shoot-off.
The winner of the Gibbhill Shield, for the best score in Event 1, was Stuart Nichol of Gatehouse after a shoot-off with club captain Willie Little.
The other leading scores were:
B Spence (47); S Nichol (46); D Brown; D McMath; B Carson; A Gordon (45); J Brown; W Little; A McKeand; A Carson (44).
