There is an abundance of matches scheduled to be played over the next week with the top Saturday game being at St Mary’s Park where St Cuthbert Wanderers will be looking to emulate their recent league match result against Stewartry rivals Dalbeattie Star in a Challenge Cup second round tie.

With the home side coming out top in the league match, Star will be keen to get back on track but Saints are a strong and experienced side and this tie could go all the way before a winner is found. There are three South of League matches due to be played the same day with the Heston Rovers versus Wigtown and Bladnoch contest looking a particularly good one. This match could go close although the Trammondford side are enjoying a good spell of form and will start as favourites to take the three points to maintain their lofty table position. Crichton play hosts to Threave Rovers at Hospital Park for a match the Castle Douglas side are expected to win while Newton Stewart entertain Nithsdale Wanderers at Blairmount Park for another match that could go either way.

On Monday evening Newton Stewart have neighbours Fleet Star as their visitors to Blairmount for a re-arranged Cree Lodge Cup second round tie while Threave Rovers entertain Wigtown and Bladnoch at Meadow Park for a place in the final of this season’s Potts Cup. In the South of Scotland League leaders Dalbeattie Star will be odds-on favourites to take the three points when they have Creetown as their visitors while St Cuthbert Wanderers and Heston could fight out an evenly contested match at St Mary’s Park.

There is a full programme of matches scheduled for Wednesday evening with a mixture of cup and league matches. Dalbeattie Star and Threave Rovers lock horns at Iselcroft in a Cree Lodge second round tie while Nithsdale Wanderers have Mid-Annandale as their visitors to Lorimer Park, Sanquhar. in the same competition. In a Tweedie Cup second round tie St Cuthbert Wanderers entertain Newton Stewart at St Marys Park while Fleet Star play Wigtown and Bladnoch at Garries Park in a league match. The final match of the night is also a league game with Heston Rovers meeting Creetown at Maryfield.
