ARE you interested in being part of the team on the award-winning Merrick Forest Stages Rally on September 6th?

If so, then the organisers would like to hear from you, as they search for volunteers to act as marshals on the event.

The marshals are vital for the safe and successful running of the rally, whether it be helping out at the start/finish;
the central service area; or out on the forest stages.

Stephen Marshall, who has overall responsibility for marshalling on the "Merrick", said: "Anyone over the age of 16, who is enthusiastic and willing can volunteer to be a marshal".

He continued: "No previous experience is needed - we ensure that anyone who volunteers works alongside experienced members of the team", and he

added: "It's a great way to get close to the action - and you get your lunch provided free as well!".

The "Merrick", which was voted best event in last year's County Saab MSA Scottish Rally Championship, will start and finish on Victoria Street in the centre of Newton Stewart.

Competitors will tackle six forest stages, including the famed 14-mile stretch at Glentrool.

If you are interested in marshalling, then you should contact Stephen Marshall on 01671 403243 or 07980 852868, or you can e-mail him at stephen@carconnections.co.uk
