Creetown Football Club held their presentation evening in the Barholm Arms on Saturday evening.
With only a few games left, it was an opportunity to look back on the successes of the season.
Eric Houston, chairman of the club, thanked all for their attendance. Special mention was made to the club sponsors, Paula and Davina for running 'Pa
ula's Pantry', Betty for washing the kit, Geordie for keeping the pitch in good order, Panny, mine host of the Barholm Arms as well as Wullie andLorraine Lindsay from the butchers.
The 2007/08 season has been a hard season with the new management partnership of Robert Tweedie and Alistair Herries. At times the club has struggled against injuries affecting their finishing position in the Southern Counties League.
Over the last few weeks the players have committed themselves to three games a week, but the highlight of the season must be the lifting of the Tweedie Cup a few weeks ago.
Creetown has always been a close knit club and continues to be so. But a special mention must be to the wives and girlfriends who allow their partners away for up to three games a week as well as training.
The other special mention was for Crichton, a team that has come from bottom of the league five years ago, to win the Southern Counties League.
The winners of the trophies were as follows: Young player of the year, Jack Nixon. Top goal scorer, Roman Saltys (43 goals so far). Supporters player of the year, Andrew Houston. Young supporters player of the year, Barry (Burley) White. Management team player of year runner up, Barry (Burley) White.
