THIS match at Blarimount was close until the second half – when the visitors ran riot and finished comfortable winners.

Newton Stewart 1 - Dalbeattie Star 5

Newton keeper Harry Fidler was called into action for a save that he just managed to push out for a corner. When the kick was swung over, Star's Adams was the first to get his head to the ball to give his side the lead.
Four minutes later, the home side drew level following some good work by Rennie and Sutherland who presented the ball in front of goal for player/manager Neil Hyslop to finish off.
As the game sprang to life, it was the visitors who again found the net through striker Clark Chambers. A good solo run by Milligan on the wing resulted in his cross finding Chambers, who volleyed home from the edge of the 18-yard yard box.
Newton were unlucky just after the half-hour mark when a fierce Rennie volley found just the wrong side of the woodwork.
Dalbeattie held on to their slender lead until the break, but did not take long after the re-start to almost score again when a defensive slip almost let Chambers in for his second, but his effort only succeeded in finding the side-netting .
However, in the 57th minute Chambers was again on the score-sheet when he finished off a move involving Carmichael with a volley from 10 yards out. On the hour mark, Dalbeattie went four up when Ferguson latched on to a through ball to beat keeper Fidler and to make the points safe.
Worse was to come for the home side when, within a minute, Dalbeattie went nap with Chambers scoring his hat-trick following some more rocky defending by the Creesiders.
