Wigtown pupils come second in orienteering championships

the Dumfries and Galloway Schools Orienteering Championships were held at Cream o’ Galloway last Friday.

Most of the pupils came from the east of the region but Wigtown Primary was well represented.

Hamish McDonald-Brown won the P6 boys section and Charlie Stewart was second in the girls competition for the same age group.

Connor Firth and Andrew Cannon won the P6 pairs and Marti Bell and Harry Brown were fourth, also competing for Wigtown were Mhairi Adams and Iona Corcoran.

Ross Quigley won the P7 boys and Christian Vincent also took part and Jennifer Craig won the P7 girls section.

The Best Primary Team Shield was won by Dalbeattie with 893 points, narrowly beating Wigtown with 881 points.

One hundred and forty seven pupils from nine schools took part, double that of the last two years.
