The Dicks Hill Community Reference Group in Stranraer held a buffet lunch to present certificates to the volunteers who have dedicated their time at numerous community events that benefit the area.

No fewer then eight young people were presented with a volunteering certificate from Wendi Cuffe, the council’s neighbourhood renewal officer in Stranraer. The young people were Andrew Marshall, Damien McMahon, Jordan Marshall, Christopher Collins, Lewis Dove, Tamara Tyler, Helen Irving and Maria Denholm.

The reference group itself was in for a surprise as Vivien Smith of Volunteer Action was there to present its members with certificates for their commitment to volunteering. The group were Kerry Marshall, John Tarry, Muriel Irving, Shirley Cluckie and Alexa Marshall.

Unfortunately three volunteers from the Peer Project were unable to attend the buffet lunch and will be presented with their certificates in the near future. They are Lindsay Balfour, Joanna Shirley and April McLean.

Shirley Cluckie from the reference group said: “I would like to thank the many individuals and organisations that have supported the numerous community events we have ran over the last few years. The area would be a far poorer place, if the likes of the individuals who received certificates today, did not give up some of their spare time for the benefit of their community.”
