A FISHING boat was badly damaged in a suspected arson attack as it was moored at the Isle of Whithorn Harbour on Friday night.

Two lads seen in the are throughout the evening are being sought by police in connection with the blaze, which destroyed the cabin of the Lowena-mor, a 9.8-metre vessel at around 9.45pm on Friday.

The fire service was called to the scene to extinguish the flames and now police want to trace the two men, who are thought to be from the north east of England judging by their reported accents, and are described as 5’ 9” tall, mousey brown hair, slim build, wearing blue jeans and a dark coloured jumper and 5’ 10/11” tall, slim build, short blond hair, wearing a cream coloured fleece or hooded top and blue tracksuit bottoms.
