The recent wet weather has given farmers and event organisers a real challenge this summer.

However the chairman of Wigtown Agricultural Society, Ross McKie, is pulling out all the stops to try to ensure the weather doesn’t spoil this year’s Wigtown Show.

Ross has contacted Cat Cubie, the glamorous BBC Scotland national weather presenter. Cat, a strong supporter of the Scottish countryside, has agreed to visit the show on Wednesday, August 1, and present the trophies in the main ring.

Ross hopes Cat will not only be able to influence the weather but also put a smile on many farmers’ faces with her sunny disposition, good looks and bubbly personality.

Cat Cubie recently joined the BBC Scotland countryside programme, Landward, and is fast becoming a favourite with those who are passionate about the great outdoors.

She loves to get on her wellies on, explore Scotland and see how much the people and the land have to offer.

She was delighted, therefore, when she was asked to come to Wigtown Show.
