Triple British National titles for Galloway twirlers

ON the bank holiday weekend, four girls from Newton Stewart travelled to the K2 Centre in Crawley to compete in the British Baton Twirling Sports Association National Championships as part of the Dumfries Baton Twirlers.

Charlotte Phillips, Erin Livingstone, Kerri Allen and Leigh Livingstone returned to Wigtownshire with an array of trophies, medals and National Championship titles.

PRIZES

Charlotte Phillips: Senior 1 Intermediate- Solo 5th; Senior 1 Intermediate- Fancy Strut 3rd.

Kerri Allan: Beginner Novice 2- Baton 2nd; Junior Novice 2- Dance Twirl 4th; Junior Intermediate 2- Fancy Strut 4th. Leigh Livingstone: Junior Novice 2- Dance Twirl 3rd; Junior Intermediate 2 Solo 7th.

Leigh and Kerri also had 2nd place in their junior 2 beginner novice and Charlotte and Erin were 4th in their senior 1 intermediate advance duo.

The weekend was extra special for Erin Livingstone who returned to Newton Stewart with 3 British National titles in 2 baton, fancy strut and dance twirl.

Charlotte and Erin are now in training for the Europeans in Belgium where they will be representing Scotland in both teams and group. The girls are a great credit to themselves and to their trainers Sarah Thorpe and Audrey Francis.
