Galloway’s teenagers are again taking the musical world by storm as a video by one group hit 5000 views on YouTube in just one week.
The trio of Elly Monteforte, 20, from Stranraer, Lewis Schofield, 17, from Portpatrick, and 18-year-old Daniel Muir, from Newton Stewart who was last featured in the Galloway Gazette in April, released their video Only Human at the end of June.
Amazingly, they had not worked together before, but still managed to write, record and shoot the video within a day.
Lewis said: “We all got together on the day and recorded it in Daniel’s shed. It only took six hours to write and record.”
The track, which details the group’s feelings about life as youngsters in Scotland, has created a buzz on social networking sites and has had mentions from top UK artist Labrinth and website Grime Daily.
“I didn’t expect this level of attention at all. We’re all really pleased at how it’s turned out,” said Lewis, who is currently studying Sports Fitness at Kilmarnock Sports College.
He shared writing and singing duties on the track with Daniel, who is the brains behind the production, while Elly provides additional vocals.
Daniel is well on his way to becoming a star in his own right, having played gigs with other upcoming talent in Glasgow and has own mixtape and EP currently in the works.
The group plan to record a mixtape together, and from then they plan to get gigs to start them on the way to stardom.
“Hopefully, eventually we’ll get the attention of a record label,” said Lewis. “In 10 years, I want to be on the Sky music channels.”
