Thirty-two properties in and around Carty were left without power today after a tractor accidentally pulled down electricity cables.
A police spokesman said: “At about 12noon a tractor clipped an electricity pole in a field opposite Lammachan View at Carty, pulling the line down. Power was cut off and Scottish Power are now in attendance.”
It was initially thought that it could take up to 48 hours to repair the damage, but later in the day Scottish Power said they were confident of having power restored by 7pm that night.
A spokesperson for the energy provider said: “We got a call at 12.30pm and as a pole was broken we had to close the network to replace the pole and then re-energise the system. There are 32 properties affected and we hope to have power back on after tea time tonight. We apologise to all our customers for the inconvenience.”
