OFFICIALS in Newton Stewart are looking forward to establishing links with the French town of Marcoussis next week as part of a town twinning project.
Sponsored by The Galloway Gazette, the twinning exercise will see seven French visitors arrive in Newton Stewart next Thursday. They will be welcomed to the town by members of the Newton Stewart and District Town Twinning Group at a reception in the McMillan Hall.
The following day our guests will be taken to the Bladnoch Distillery and then to Wigtown, Scotland’s National Booktown. After lunch at the Kirroughtree Visitor Centre they will travel to Gatehouse of Fleet to see a demonstration of kiltmaking before enjoying a social evening with their hosts.
On Saturday it’s off to the Food Town Day in Castle Douglas followed by a tour of Threave Gardens before ending their visit by enjoying Kirkcubright’s Spring Fling arts and crafts open day.
