Town deflated by closure of garage

A well-known local business is coming to an end today (Friday) with the closure of The Wigtown Motor Company.

The Duncan Park garage is closing its doors as owner Roger Anderson steps back.

And ex customers have been sharing their fond memories of the garage, which many Wigtown locals joke has been there as long as Wigtown itself!

John Lindsay said: “I bought my first car from Roger in 1978 - a Renault 5 TS. Unfortunately I wrote it off later that same year but not before running over Stephen Marshall’s foot.”

And Gillian Thorley added: “A true gentleman, and well respected for the way he ran his business and treated his customers. So sorry to see you go Roger, it was always pleasure doing business with you.”

Neil Thomson added: “My dad got most of his cars from Roger, and I got my first from him in 1991, a Renault 9.”
