This year’s Lockerbie Jazz Festival will take place over the weekend of September 28, 29, 30.
The town hall will be the main venue on the Saturday for an all-day multi-concert event at a low cost to encourage families to attend.
The festival organisers are still working on the programme but already have signed up a number of blues, classic jazz and contemporary bands to appear, including the highly popular local big band the Dumfries Youth Jazz Group, with their award-winning small group Kilts wi Hae, and local classic jazz group The Lairds. Also on the bill are blues and boogie pianist Stephanie Trick from the US and great US pianist David Berkman.
The headline act on the Saturday will be the wonderful New Orleans clarinet player Evan Christopher, with his band Django A La Creole. On the same day Ian Siegal and Otis Grand will headline some great blues gigs, and Darius Brubeck’s quartet with Dave O’Higgins will anchor the afternoon sessions.
Stephanie Trick will appear on the Sunday, and the popular classic band Nova Scotia will have a lunch session. More details on the festival soon from lockerbiejazz.com.
