A rare opportunity to learn from some of Scotland’s leading writers is coming to Wigtown at the beginning of May.
The third Writers’ Gathering kicks off events at the Spring Book Weekend in Scotland’s National Booktown with a day of workshops and networking for established writers and anyone who would like to take that first step.
Workshops will be led by novelist and poet Magi Gibson, crime writer Douglas Skelton, graphic novelist David Bishop, playwright and performer Alan Bissett and Ian MacPherson who combines writing with being an acclaimed stand-up comedian.
So whether you want to plunge into poetry, fancy trying stand-up, writing a graphic novel script or getting started in fiction or non-fiction there’s something for you at the Writers’ Gathering.
There’s also the chance to have a one to one meeting with some of the workshop leaders, to get feedback or support for your writing ambitions.
The event is on Friday 1st May and the ticket price of just £20 includes lunch. For anyone under the age of 25 the day is ticketed but free thanks to funding from Youthlink Cashback for Creativity.
The day concludes with a Stand Up Supper with Alan Bissett who will be telling stories, raising a dram and reading from some of his novels. Participants at the Writers’ Gathering will be able to get a discount on the ticket price for this extra event.
