Thief took women’s knickers

A Wigtown man with a penchant for stealing ladies knickers appeared at Stranraer Sheriff Court this week.

Christopher Laverie, 32, of
Agnew Cresent, admitted stealing the underwear from a house in New Road, Wigtown, between July 21 and 22.

Fiscal depute Kay Christie said the complainer found her bedroom in a state of disarray with several items lying on the floor and furniture left open. She then went into another bedroom and found the top drawer of the bedroom furniture was also open. After investigation, it was discovered that just the complainer’s underwear had been taken and the police were called in.

Defending, Ian Milligan said
he was struggling for a cogent reason for his client’s behaviour.

Sheriff Kenneth Robb said it
was not only the value and nature
of what was stolen but also that Laverie was in someone else’s house. He told Laverie it was “a serious matter” and he would defer sentence for nine months to see if the accused could be of good behaviour.
