Police have issued a warning following a number of rural thefts recently.
Last Monday, in the early hours of the morning, a quantity of diesel and two chainsaws were taken from a farm in the Kirkcowan area. A Suzuki quad bike was stolen from a farm at Glenluce overnight Wednesday 31 July and two Honda quad bikes were stolen from New Luc last Monday night.
A police spokesperson said: “Thefts of fuel, power tools and metal are widespread through the whole of Scotland just now, and here in Dumfries and Galloway we are by no way immune from this type of crime. We need the public to help deter and detect these thefts.
“Report any suspicious persons and vehicles visiting farms or rural locations. Note descriptions of people and vehicle registration marks if possible, and secure machinery and equipment in locked sheds. Also, remove keys from parked vehicles.”
