Team Galloway on road to fundraising success

THREE local lads taking on the challenge of a lifetime in support of our troops have already managed to raise an impressive £2,700 for the cause.

This figure puts them second on the UK leaderboard for teams taking part in the rally and now the threesome - Tom Hudson who lives in Kirkcudbright, James McGill of Mochrum and Malcolm Middleton from Bladnoch - are raring to go.

Team Galloway will take to the tracks of Europe in the Help for Heroes European 4x4 Rally 2011 in June and thanks to local sponsors, are well on the road to making a huge difference for our servicemen.

But the lads still have a long way to go yet and every penny counts so they are inviting you to an evening of entertainment to help them along.

Next Friday (25 March) they will be holding a fundraising evening in Twynholm Village Hall and with tickets just £10, you can do your bit without even noticing. Tickets are available from J&B Print, Newton Stewart or Thistle ‘B’ Scrumptious in Castle Douglas. Local band “The Geese” will be playing, followed by a free buffet, quiz and DJ for the rest of the evening and a raffle.

Tom served in Iraq on Telic 4 in 2004 and since then has had an active involvement in the TA and ACF and has been keen to raise funds for H4H.

The rally will start at noon on Saturday 18th June 2011 at a location in North Wiltshire. After using byways on Salisbury Plain, the teams will all go to Portsmouth to embark on the ferry over to France. It will be a 2000 mile/3200 km expedition and will travel through six countries in 11 days; concluding in Bavaria, Germany. This non-speed touring assembly, with a maximum entry of 45 teams, will be part military history tour (including museums etc), fun activities, part off-road driving and part club-type social, open to road-legal 4x4 vehicles.

To sponsor the team, you can contact Malcolm on 07766 317 956 or visit the team’s Facebook page by searching for Team Galloway.
