Tank takes a swim

AN unusual method of transportation was employed to move a tank from the grounds of the former creamery in Kirkcudbright on Monday.

The large tank, bound for the opposite side of the River Dee, was too big to take through the gates of the former MilkLink site and would have been a tight squeeze over the town bridge, so a brainstorm resulted in the idea to float it across the river.

Crowds gathered to watch the operation at high tide, which went without a hitch. A crane gently dropped the tank on the banks of the river before a tug boat helped pull it across, where it was then lifted onto dry land.
