A STRANRAER man has been jailed for three years at Glasgow’s High Court for culpable homicide after injecting a man with heroin which led to his death.

Former drug addict Alistair Koehler, 28, of Coronation Drive, was convicted of the culpable homicide of Andrew Graham, 48, following a trial.

Judge Lord Turnbull said the “level of recklessness was high” and that a jail term had to be imposed.

He Koehler: “You participated in the purchase of the heroin and you injected it into his (Mr Graham’s) bloodstream.

“Had you refused, he would not have died.”

Koehler was found guilty last month of killing Mr Graham at a property in Lochdale, Stranraer, in December 2009.

After the verdict, Koehler said “sorry” to a woman sitting in the public gallery - believed to be Mr Graham’s sister - as he was taken to the cells.

She replied: “No, it is not enough. It won’t bring him back.”
