Stranraer man crushed to death in Perthshire

A STRANRAER man has been crushed to death after becoming trapped between a road roller and a digger.

David McCorey, 31, was working as a contractor on the Beauly to Denny power line project and died at the scene near Knoxfauld Farm, Kinbuck in Perthshire on Wednesday.

Police said Mr McCorey’s death was being investigated as an industrial accident. There were no apparent suspicious circumstances.

A statement from SSE said: “SSE can confirm that a serious incident involving a contractor has occurred on a site forming part of the Beauly - Denny transmission line project.

“This has resulted in a fatality. A full investigation is now under way by the project’s principal contractor, Balfour Beatty, and the HSE.

“SSE will support and co-operate fully with these investigations.

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are very much with the family of the individual involved.”
