VISITORS to Twynholm over the weekend were met with an unsettling sight as decorated scarecrows could be seen hanging from lampposts, window ledges and fences.

But they needn’t have feared a more gruesome re-make of The Wicker Man, for it was just the village’s annual Tattie Bogle competition which saw adults and children go to fantastic efforts to create works of art on the theme - Heroes and Villains.

From Harry Potter and his enemy Lord Voldemort to Rupert Murdoch and the entire cast of The Wizard of Oz, the theme was stuck to by the residents and judging took place on friday night amid torrential downpours.

West Sound Radio’s breakfast show presenter, Bruce McKenzie, along with Gazette reporter Emma Barlow and friends took to the streets to decide on a winner and couldn’t resist the clever scene of Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Croc which took the top spot in the adult section with Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort taking the junior crown.
