There are three South of Scotland League matches scheduled to be played this weekend along with four Cree Lodge round two cup-ties.

In the cup competition Creetown play hosts to St Cuthbert Wanderers at Castle Cary Park for a game, the visitors will start strong favourites.

The home side though will have other thoughts and if they can perform to the high standard that they are capable off then they could record a surprise result although the Kirkcudbright side are the more likelier to go through to the semi-final of this particular competition.

League leaders Edusport Academy are at home to Crichton and they too should make the next round although may well be pushed all the way by a very competent visiting side.

There is a local derby at Maxwelltown High School where Lochar Thistle entertain neighbours Heston Rovers for a contest that could well go close and could take more than the regulation ninety minutes to find a winner.

Home advantage though could well see Lochar through to the semi-final stages.

There is another intriguing match at Sanquhar where Nithsdale Wanderers play Fleet Star in a match that again home advantage could well decide what team progresses although Star are expected as usual to give their all.

Wigtown and Bladnoch will be keen to get back to winning ways when they have Abbey Vale as their visitors to Trammondford Park and are expected to do so while Newton Stewart will also be looking to hit the winning trail again in their visit to Lockerbie to play Mid-Annandale.

Mids though are on a good run of form at present and will be well up for this encounter with the result expected to be close.

Dumfries YMCA travel up to Moffat to play Upper Annandale in a contest that Uppers look the more likelier to take the three points from although the visitors should not be underestimated as they are more than capable of recording a victory in this encounter.
