South Machars welcomes new GP

The South Machars Medical Practice has appointed Dr Andrew Brown as a new partner.

Originally born in Kirkconnell, his family moved to Edinburgh when he was young and he was educated there. Medical training continued at Edinburgh University and, following a year at the Royal Infirmary and three years’ GP training, he took up a post as a GP in Derby, his wife’s home city.

Dr Brown’s family have holidayed in Dumfries and Galloway every year since he was a child and, flicking through a medical journal while on holiday earlier this year, he spotted an advert for the vacancy at South Machars. After 20 years in Derby, he has brought his family to an area they know and love. His wife, twin 11-year-olds and 13-year-old son are settling in to their new life in the south-west.
