Four members of staff from Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Social Work Services and a staff member from Stewartry Care recently graduated from the National Dementia Champions course.
The ceremony was held on 2 May at Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh. The champions will now have a leadership role with the aim of improving the experiences, care, treatment and outcomes for people with dementia.
Chair of Social Work Services Committee, Councillor Andy Ferguson, said: “This is a very timely course given the age profile of our region. I am impressed at the commitment of our staff and staff from local care organisations who willingly gave up some of their own time to learn how to provide the best possible care for those facing dementia.”
