Sheriff says accused is a ‘moron’

A MAN who repeatedly attempted to force his way into a Stranraer nightspot was called a “moron” by the sheriff this week before being given community service.

Douglas Marr, 19, of John Simpson Drive, Stranraer, admitted trying to entice people to fight when he was refused entry into Bar Pazzarello on March 10.

In court this week, Sheriff Alastair Brown told him that he was shocked to read in background reports that he’d told social workers it was “normal behaviour on a night out”.

He went on: “This is far from normal behaviour. This is the very type of behaviour that ruins the nights out of people who have gone out to celebrate and come across a moron like you.”

He was given 136 hours’ community service and placed on an offender supervision order.
