Galloway writer and illustrator Pauline James-Patersonhas put immortalised the tale of a farmyard favourite with the release of her second picture book.
‘Boo, Where Are You?’ sees the little calf leave the farm to play with other black and white creatures in a variety of funny ways.
Designed for babies and toddlers, the book is an entertaining challenge of trying to find Boo as he paddles with puffins, parades with penguins, zig-zags around zebras and snorkels with orcas.
Following on from the success of the first book from Port William’s Second Sands Publications ‘The Trail of the Pointy Toed Pyjama Thief’ last year, Pauline was inspired to create her new picture book by the birth of her first grandchild.
“I wanted to design a book that my lovely granddaughter can look at and interact with,” she explained.
Pauline’s first book proved a hit with children and adults alike not just in Dumfries & Galloway, but also in New Zealand, Australia and the U.S.A.
Readers of her new picture book are presented with the challenge of locating Boo on each page but, with his black and white coat acting as camouflage, this can often prove tricky.
“Boo, Where Are You?” is very much a local product, being conceived, written, printed and published in Dumfries and Galloway and is available now from local bookshops and outlets as well as on line retailers.
Endorsed by fellow authors such as Jayne Baldwin the book is already proving to be a hit.
