Sea rescue drama

A fishing boat that got into difficulties in Luce Bay on Wednesday afternoon was rescued by PIRSAC, the Port William Inshore Rescue boat, after a three hour operation.

PIRSAC coxswain Murray Morland told The Galloway Gazette: “The Port William Inshore Rescue Boat were called out at 15.55 on Wednesday after a fishing vessel owned by Paul McGuire got stuck fast on rocks one mile north west of Port William at the Philip and Mary. There were three crew on board and they had requested assistance.

“When the IRB arrived the crew made several attempts to turn the vessel off the rocks, but they were struggling because of the sea conditions. But when the tide changed the IRB managed to pull the boat off the rocks and escorted it back to Port William harbour.”
