Scout leaders celebrate long service at this years meeting

Galloway Scout Leaders have held their annual gathering, this time at The Murray Arms Hotel, Gatehouse.

Area Chairman Drew Low, welcomed the company and made a number of awards to leaders for voluntary service to the movement for 5 to 25 years.

Drew was himself then presented with a 50 year service award by Nigel Scott, District Commissioner for Galloway, who praised Drew for his service and commitment.

Members of Castle Douglas Scout Troop then gave a presentation of their recent trip to Kenya to help build toilets for local schools .

Part of their presentation described their preparation which included a fundraising trip across Galloway on a homemade bicycle made from 4 bikes with a toilet in the middle!.

This was followed by a presentation by Bandersnach Explorer Scouts who had taken part in The World Scout Jamboree in Japan.

The members then gave an excellent presentation of their expedition detailing their home hospitality experiences with Japanese families.
