New figures show that there are more school leavers moving to positive destinations such as employment, training or education than ever before in Dumfries and Galloway.
Across the region 93 percent of leavers entered a positive destination in 2014/15, a rise of 2 percent since the previous year.
Dumfries and Galloway have also increased their ranking by 8 places (25%) and now rank 20th in comparison with the other Scottish local authorities.
The report also shows that the percentage of leavers reported as unemployed and seeking employment has fallen 2.4 percent, down from 7.1 percent in 2013/14, the lowest it has been in years.
The progress follows Dumfries and Galloway Council’s budget in February 2015 which saw significant extra resources being invested in delivering ‘A Youth Guarantee for DG’ – a pledge that every young person in Dumfries and Galloway will be guaranteed a place in education, or training or a job within four months of them leaving school.
It will see £3.5 million invested per year.
