Sainsbury's hands over the huge cheque to Marie Curie

Sainsbury’s in Newton Stewart recently presented a cheque to Marie Curie Cancer Care, the store’s charity partners for 2014/15. Bag packs, fun days, ‘the big bike ride’ round all the Sainsbury’s stores in Glasgow/Ayrshire/Dumfries and Galloway, cash donations along the way and of course, Patricia’s Head Shave in-store all contributed to an incredible total of £5448.85 – this included a £353.86 donation from the sale of carrier bags. All the money raised stays in the local area to help people affected by this terrible disease. Thanks go to the Marie Curie fundraisers, colleagues of Sainsbury’s Newton Stewart, and of course Sainsbury’s Customers who have relentlessly given to this charity throughout the year. It is now time for the people of Newton Stewart and the surrounding area to select a new charity of the year for the store to support into 2016. On the 15th June, a short list of three new local charities that customers can vote for will be revealed. Vote for your charity of choice in Sainsbury’s or online at www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk.
