The Rotary Young Technologist Competition for schools was held in The Douglas Ewart High School on Wednesday 5th March.
This year four schools participated; Castle Douglas, Dalbeattie, The Douglas Ewart high and Kirkcudbright Academy.
Each team was required to successfully and safely transfer an item from a container to a set position.
The pupils had to imagine the item was a fragment of radioactive meteorite, which meant therefore all actions had to be achieved at a safe distance.
Naturally the teams could use only the materials provided.
Throughout the day, the students worked in their teams and had to manage their time efficiently, discuss the problems inherent in the tasks, set out the design proposals and manufacture the equipment necessary to solve the problem.
Many thanks to all the pupils and staff involved for making this such a successful and enjoyable day.
