A Stewartry man is gearing up to set off on a bit of a stroll in memory of his beloved daughter.

Robin Hood from Mossdale will start a mammoth challenge on May 10th to walk from Kirkwall to Mossdale, calling at Nairn, Inverness, Fort William and Glasgow, aiming to be home in Galloway by June 7th. This trip of about 600 miles will be undertaken while Robin pulls a trolley alongside him for the whole route.

Robin’s daughter Alex died in 2008 from a rare skin condition that forms part of Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a devastatingly painful skin blistering illness.

Robin has also released a book entitled ‘Smile Daddy, I’m Dying’, named after the words spoken by his young daughter upon being told there was nothing more that could be done to help her. The book has been endorsed by Bill Clinton and Gordon Brown and can be bought at smiledaddyimdying.co.uk or in several book shops in Castle Douglas. Profits will go towards more research into EB.
