THE first teams have began signing up for this year’s Relay for Life which comes back to Bladnoch Park for 2011.
The 24-hour walk, beginning on Saturday 3 July and ending on Sunday July 4, will hope to raise thousands for Cancer Research UK and organisers are aiming to welcome at least 25 teams to the park.
So far, the Annandale Amblers, The Tartan Army, the Zippy Zimmers and Port William Primary School have raised over £6,000 towards the cause and will walk the course in July.
A number of open meetings are taking place over the coming weeks to provide information and answer any queries. These will be held on Tuesday 8th March: Stranraer College, Stranraer 7pm; Wednesday 9th March: Café Rendezvous, Wigtown, 7pm; Tuesday 22nd March:The Murray Arms, Gatehouse, 7pm and Thursday 24th March: Costa Coffee, Dumfries, 7pm.
The prevous walk at Bladnoch in 2009 raised over £43,000 and last year’s, at Park Farm in Dumfries, raised over £65,000.
Hundreds of friends, family, work colleagues and even neighbours come together annually to raise this much-needed cash and to have it on our doorstep means there is no excuse not to join in.
