The Isle of Whithorn is all set for a weekend of summer fun as the community’s gala kicks off tomorrow (Saturday).
Starting at 12pm at the harbour, the parade will be led by this year’s king and queen with attendants and a piper.
Following will be floats and fancy dress entries who will make their way to Boyach Field for an afternoon of family fun with fairground rides,a bonnie baby contest, a pet show, races for all ages, bouncy castles, face painting, tug of war, It’s a Knockout, BBQ, bottle stall, home-baking, tea and coffee, special guests, highland dancers, Emma-Louise dancers, Galloway Activity Centre and much, much more.
Not to be outdone, Sunday’s events begin again on the harbour at 12pm with the piper starting an afternoon of water sports.
Following will be The West Coast Stompers line dancing demonstrations, raft race, swimming races, kayak race, out-board engine race, 2-oared race and the famous greasy pole.
Fairground rides and stalls, bouncy castles, BBQ, bucking bronco and water balls will also feature.
To enter the events, find the entry table on the harbour, Cash prizes of up to £100 are up for grabs as well as trophies.
Boats and rafts are not provided so get building tonight! PIRSAC will be in attendance throughout the water sports.
The weekend will draw to a close with aparty on the harbour – music provided by Jimmy Hannah, back by popular demand.
