WORK continues apace over the Cree Bridge at the Old Toll House with the garden now taking shape.

The Galloway Gazette has been following the progress of the transformation of this iconic house from neglected derelict to a stunning home for Gary Cunningam and his family from Liverpool.

Gary and wife Catherine bought the property last year for a base after coming to the area on fishing holidays for nearly 20 years.

He said: ”A local company, Dabhand Garden Services did all the work. They prepared the garden and laid the grass. The garden is fenced off to the ducks and geese in the river at the moment but, rest assured, as soon as the grass is established, the fence will come down and the ducks and geese will be very welcome again!”

“We have also just received final planning permission for the slates and the skylights so that will be the next job to do.

“We have bought another holiday let in Minnigaff as well so we will continue to invest in the area.”
