The pupils and community of Kirkcudbright Academy have raised a fantastic £5000 for the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.

Sixth-year pupils organised a series of fundraising events throughout the year and raised an amazing £10,000, which was shared with the charity Riding for the Disabled.

Ken McCubbin received the cheque from senior pupils Hugh McDavid, William McLean and Frances Combey at the school prizegiving ceremony on July 2.

David McNicol, GMRT fundraising officer, said: “Fundraising efforts like this make a significant inroads to our annual £25,000 running costs. Sincere thanks to all the pupils involved and everyone who supported their numerous events.”
