Pupils meet the marines

The seaside village of Port William has been buzzing with activity this past fortnight as the base for the Royal Marine Commandos taking part in the NATO Joint Warrior military exercise.

Some lucky pupils from both Port William and Kirkinner primary School got to spend time with the troops in the village this week and had the chance to see some of the elite troops’ high-tec hardware up close.

Joint Warrior has been blessed with brilliant weather and the 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines have been a big hit with the villagers.
