Pupils at Penningham Primary School have worked together to write and illustrate their own picture book aimed at young children.

The hard back book, Danielle and Cutie, has been produced by five pupils in the learning centre at the school and published by an online publishing company.

The authors Carinne, Dylan, Callum, Johnny and Finton are thrilled with what they have produced.

Primary art and design teacher, Christina Green, is very proud of what they have achieved.

She said: “The pupils have created a gorgeously illustrated, heart-warming tale about friendship.

“The book is so wonderful, we now want to publish several copies of a soft cover edition of the book.

“That way, many more children can enjoy the adventures of Danielle the dog and Cutie the cat.”

Penningham Primary School are on the lookout for local businesses and organisations who would be interested in assisting the funding of the project.

Angela Brown, principle teacher of the learning centre said: “I am really proud of the book the children produced and it would be great for as many people to read it as possible.

“Even with a discount, the one hard copy we’ve had published cost a fortune so we’d some help with the costs.

“We have quotes drawn up so if anyone would be interested in helping out then please get in touch with the school.”
