Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown and Stranraer and North Rhins Councillor Marion McCutcheon praised all the organisers and volunteers who walked Stranraer Rotary Club’s ‘Mull of Galloway Trail’ at the weekend to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in Stranraer.
Russell and Marion entered a team to take part in the event on Saturday (6 April) which involved a 24 mile walk on the stretch of the trail from Stranraer Tourist Information Office to the Mull of Galloway, broken down into four sections, with participants gaining sponsors to raise money for the Stranraer group of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Russell Brown said: “A huge well done to everyone in the Stranraer Committee of MacMillan Cancer Support for organising the event and to everyone who walked the trail. Cancer is something that at some stage touches every family, so it was good to see so many people taking part to raise funds for Macmillan to support cancer patients and their families in the local area.”
Marion McCutcheon added: “There can’t be many more stunning parts of the world to walk on such a beautiful day. It was great to see local families enjoy the occasion and not only showcase the excellent Mull of Galloway Trail but most importantly contribute to such a worthwhile cause as Macmillan Cancer Support”.
Russell and Marion will also be abseiling down the Mull of Galloway lighthouse later this year raise funds for the group.
